The Organs

Above and to the sides of the High Altar are two period organs, resting on white marble brackets with variegated reddish inserts. The one on the left is by Azzolino Bernardino della Ciaia and was inaugurated in 1732 while the one on the right, by Onofrio Zeffirini, was inaugurated in 1567. The gilded frames were carved by Dionisio di Matteo, known as Mastro Nigi, following a design by Giorgio Vasari. The marble brackets are the work of Giovanni Fancelli, known as a Nanni di Stocco.
In 1931 these two famous organs were wired to the one keyboard by the firm of Giovanni Tamburini.

The Candelabras

Close to the High Altar there are four candelabras in walnut, carved with flowers and cherubs' heads. The three faces of the triangular base carry the arms of the Order. They were made following a design by Vasari towards the end of the 16th century.

The Chorus

The chorus behind the High Altar, in cypress and walnut, is decorated with geometrical friezes and patterns. It has twentytwo stalls and was once used by the officiating clergy. It was oonstructed in the 16th century (1570) following Vasari's design. The 16th century carved walnut lectern is embellished with dolphins.

ThePulpit

The pulpit is in marble inlayed with geometrical patterns and flowers (1627). It is the work of Chiarissimo Fancelli and was a donation from the Pisa Cathedral Works. It was placed here in 1929, as can be seen from the marble tablet at its fool.

The Holy Water Stoups

Fine holy water stoups in Luni and Seravezza variegated marbles (16th century) decorated with cherubs and garlands. Designed by Giorgio Vasari, they were the work of Giovanni Fancelli, known as “Nanni di Stocco”.

The Inner Door

In carved walnut, it has four doors and is decorated with freizes, round inlaid panels and leaves, it is surmounted by the arms of the Knights.
It was construced during the 18th century, seemingly under the supervision of Giovambattista Foggini.
